About the event

General Information: The performance profile (Butler & Hardy, 1992) is a standard mental performance tool employed by sport psychology professionals to enhance a range of psychological outcomes. Despite its popularity and growing literature base, the technique is not always fully understood or maximized in practice. To address this gap, this workshop will delve deep into the performance profile’s theoretical roots, procedural variations, and diverse applications. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with various performance profile adaptations and receive a masterclass on the trainer’s signature technique - the Strengths-Based Performance Profile (SBPP). Best practices, applied considerations, and alternative uses of the technique will also be thoroughly discussed. Thus, the aim of this workshop is to provide an evidence-based personal development and skill-building opportunity tailored for those seeking advanced training on the theory, science, and application of the performance profile procedure.

Workshop Trainer: The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Elmer Castillo. Dr. Castillo has vast experience designing, implementing, and evaluating performance profiling interventions with various high-performance populations at both individual and group levels. His subject matter expertise stems from publishing experimental investigations, reflective accounts, and conceptual papers to advance the theory, science, and practice pertaining to the performance profile technique. Most notably, the trainer developed the latest adaptation of the performance profile procedure (SBPP) and published a comprehensive and updated review of the performance profile technique in The Sport Psychologist. Additionally, his work in the area of performance profiling was featured in the May 2022 Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) member newsletter.

Target Audience: This workshop is designed for students and faculty within sport psychology programs, CMPCs, and mental health and mental performance professionals (in private practice, university athletic departments, professional athletic organizations, sport academies, military, etc.) who are interested in specialized training on evidence-based ways to leverage the performance profile technique in practice.

Continuing Education: This workshop is approved by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) for 6 continuing education units (CEUs) to partially meet the continuing education recertification requirement for Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC®). These CEUs are valid toward the general hours total but not in required areas of Ethics, Diversity, or Mentorship/Supervision. Certificants who attend the program in its entirety will receive documentation of workshop attendance and training completion.

Training Format: This full-day workshop will be conducted at the group level and online via Google Meet videoconferencing software. You can download the Google Meet application for free on your computer or mobile device, and it will be important that you have updated to the latest version of Google Meet prior to the workshop.

Registration, Payment, and Refund Policy: Due to the interactive and experiential nature of this training, space is limited. The cost for this training is $275 USD for professionals and $225 USD for students. To receive the reduced ticket rate, students must first email a screenshot of their current semester course schedule to elmer.castillo@eceliteconsulting.com to receive a unique coupon code to enter in the event registration page. The price reserves your spot and includes service fees, certificate of completion for CEUs (if applicable), and handouts and resources for use during and after the workshop. Full refunds (minus applicable processing fees) will be given for cancellations up until August 16, 2024 (1-week prior to the training). Attendees are responsible for having a secure, stable internet connection as well as a working webcam and microphone through use of a computer, tablet, or phone. The trainer will do everything within his means to assist attendees with any technical difficulties they experience during the workshop, but unfortunately cannot offer refunds if an attendee misses part or all of the workshop due to technical issues associated with their personal device or internet connection.
